Originally in the historic county of Huntingdonshire, the Giddings are now part of the greater Cambridgeshire county.
Parishes and communities have existed in this county since before the Doomsday book, which records the land of Gidding in two parts. <ref>
I've started this site to bring together all of my researches into these towns and villages, where my paternal line appears to have many roots. This site is key to grounding my family in the region, the villages and the places in and around these communities.
The town of Great Gidding in particular continues to thrive and has an Active community website.
The archives from the same site also has a wide selection of details of use to the historian and the genealogist.
For people interested in genealogy in the area, they could do worse than visit the Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Family History Society.

Little is now left of the village of Steeple Gidding.
The church of St Andrews is now managed by the Churches Conservation Trust as one of many 'redundant' churches in England.
It is still used for events and is open to visitors daily (but please check website for any restrictions/closures)
